Teknicolor pres. TOM DEMAC (Murmur, Liebe*Detail)

Welcoming in 2011 with our first headliner of the New Year, we’ve invited Tom Demac to play an extended 3 hour DJ Set. After strengthening his relationship with the highly respected Murmur imprint – run by mulletover head honcho Geddes – he’s rapidly rising through the labels ranks with critically acclaimed releases such as his recent Slip Slop Slap EP and Crew Cuts & Curls EP gaining big recognition from industry trend setters. Re-workings of the latter by Wolf + Lamb, Luke Solomon and Jamie Jones give a good indicator of Tom’s production calibre. 2010 has also seen Tom release on Liebe*Detail, a remix on Crosstown Rebels for long time friend Glimpse, and his Critical Distance EP included on the DC10 – Circoloco 10th Anniversary CD! With future releases lined up on Hypercolour, Liebe*Detail and Murmur, we can also look forward to the launch of his new techno project – ‘Dense’ collaborating with Glimpse. After records flying off the shelves and entering the boxes of top jocks like Laurent Garnier, Luciano and Maryanne Hobbs, Tom has gone on to perform his raw and energetic Live and DJ sets throughout Europe and the UK, from Manchester’s Warehouse Project to Shoreditch rave venue The Basement.

Gathering inspiration from the rolling hills of his native North Wales, Tom tailors the unique identity in his music no doubt aided by the lack of surrounding trends. From early sessions in a friends garage (containing a few rusty boxes and a four-track), Tom went on to study music technology at Salford University in Manchester, exchanging most of his studying time for studio time along with persistently pestering the Orbit residents at the legendary Eastern Bloc records and promoting club nights. Since then he has developed his own characteristic sound, based on a philosophy of creating music aimed at the dance-floor but carrying enough 'essence' to be enjoyed in the home. Taking his influences from Detroit Techno, House, Electronica and hip-hop, come and see why the world’s finest artists and music lovers alike are tuning in to Demac’s 'uniquely kinked grooves'.
