Third birthday time, and we've been planning this one right from the very start. It gives us enormous pleasure to announce that after three years in the making, Visionquest will be making their UK debut at Louche. The four members of Detroit's production and performance outfit; Seth Troxler, Ryan Crosson, Shaun Reeves and Lee Curtiss have all played for us in our first three years of events, so we felt this to be the only lineup worthy of our third anniversary. With Shaun, Ryan and Seth flying in to represent, this one is gonna be an absolute riot.
The city of Detroit needs little introduction; the spiritual home of techno has given birth to the sounds greatest pioneers since the eighties; from Kevin Saunderson to Jeff Mills, from Hawtin to Matthew Dear. The Visionquest boys are the latest quality export to come from the Motor City; a new generation of producers who draw influence from their predecessors, following in their footsteps, while defining a unique sound all of their own. Focusing on the deep soul of electronic music, their beats are driven by emotion and developed from the individuals' diverse musical backgrounds. Visionquest have their roots in Motown, and draw spiritual influences from forerunners like Theo Parrish and Moodyman. They deliver the quality of sound and attitude of a best selling Minus record rounded off with a dreamy, otherworldly vibe. Together they’re on a heartfelt mission to save the world from boring minimal techno and wannabe Frankfurt house, while having as much fun as possible in the process.
Individually the guys have all released on the scenes most cutting edge labels; Crosstown, Wagon Repair, Wolf + Lamb and Get Physical to name but a few, so it is little surprise that the guys' collective work is being received with such high praise. Last year Visionquest's remix of 'Good Voodoo' on BPitch Control was a massive underground smash, and plans are now afoot to Launch their own Visionquest label, a project which Lee says has "some of the coolest music I've ever heard lined up for the first few releases". Both individually and together they play at clubs the world over; Fabric, Watergate, Tenax and Cocoon all regularly featuring these outrageously talented artists. Their Visionquest party at this year’s Detroit Electronic Music Festival was one of the highlights of the event, and their appearance at DC-10 at the end of this summer was next level; the boys taking musical control of the venue from start to finish. Expect more of the same when they touchdown at Louche, this will be a three way live and DJ jamming session which Leeds, or the UK has never heard the likes of before.
Our last three years have been amazing; what started out as a small night amongst friends has now turned into a monthly party showcasing some of electronic music's freshest and exiting stars, performing to the best crowd in town. Tonight is our biggest yet; a massive UK exclusive, one made all the more special by the intimate surroundings of The Mint Club. It's lined up to be a musical treat and a lot of fun, a perfect way to celebrate three great years of partying.
